Backpackers have used Outsak® in bear country all along the Appalachian Trail. Using the Outsak® in conjunction with the cable hanging systems at some of worst campsites for bears has proven highly effective. These cables get your food high in the air and away from bears, but not other animals. Rodents, Chipmunks and Squirrels are known to jump from branches and overhangs onto your hung food making the bear hang inadequate. They also will climb down the line that is hanging your food.
